PNP

Wellington's oldest cycling club

GIVE BIKE RACING A GO

Whether you’re new to cycling, or have been riding for years, PNP has something to offer you. The Club organises track cycling racing and training at the Wellington Velodrome in summer and a series of mountain bike events during the year, not to mention our excellent junior programme.

PNP is one of New Zealand's oldest cycling clubs (we’ve been around since 1926!), and is affiliated to Cycling NZ and Mountain Bike NZ.

New Members Welcome!

Everyone is welcome to come along and try cycling at our local club races. After two Road or Track races in a year you'll need to join PNP if you want to keep racing. You can ride as many PNP MTB races as you like without having to join, but as a member you'll get a discount off your race entry and be kept up to date on all Club news and events. You'll aso have voting rights at the AGM and can participate on a committee if you want to.

95+ YEARS OF HISTORY

The Port Nicholson Amateur Cycling Club was formed at a meeting held at the YMCA rooms in Willis Street on the 9th June, 1926. The Poneke Amateur Cycling Club was formed in the early 1930s and the two clubs combined in the late 1960s to form the Port Nicholson Poneke Cycling Club (PNP).

PNP celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2016, and is a Club that's thriving across three disciplines, and features regularly on the podium at Centre and National level. There have been some outstanding riders and administrators from PNP in past years such as Alvin Pennington, Alan Rice and Harry Kent. But, we also are proud to be generating new stars such as Samara Sheppard, Jack Compton, Kim Hurst and Eden Cruise.
